Gabion basket is a container made of wire mesh. It is mainly made of high-strength steel wire, and its shape is usually a regular geometric shape such as a cuboid, a cube or a cylinder. The mesh opening size of the mesh basket can be adjusted according to practical applications. For example, in projects used to prevent sediment loss, the mesh openings may be smaller, while in projects used to fill large rocks, the mesh openings can be appropriately increased. The surroundings and bottom of the gabion basket are made of wire mesh, and have reinforced edges to ensure the stability of the structure after filling with stones and other materials.

In order to meet various needs, gabion baskets must have the following characteristics:
Hexagonal grid pattern-key nodes;
Double twist process to avoid wire unraveling;
Reinforcement wire woven into corners to reinforce key nodes;
A diaphragm firmly attached to the base prevents some diaphragm movement and reinforces the gabion.
All gabion baskets are manufactured in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 10223-3:2013.
All wires comply with BS EN 10218-2:2012 and BS EN 10223-3:2013
Ultimate tensile strength is from 350 to 500N/mm².
All wires used in gabion production or accessories shall be coated with zinc or alloy with 90% of zinc and 10% of aluminum. And its coating is in accordance with the standards of BS EN 10244-2:2009 (Class A) and the gabion wire is additionally coated with extruded organic polymer powder (gray, green) which meets the standard of the radial thickness of 0.5 mm. This organic polymer powder coating complies with the standard of BS EN 10245-2:2011.
Galvanized wire: The amount of galvanizing can reach 40-280g per square meter.
Galfan Wire: It is also known as Aluminum-Zinc Coated Wire (10% Al), and the Zinc weight is 200g-500g per square meter.
PVC coated wire: The inner wire is galvanized wire or zinc-aluminum alloy-coated (with 90% of zinc and 10% of aluminum), and its regular colors are gray and green.
